Kuwaiti Specialist Wins Gulf Data Innovation Award

A young Kuwaiti data specialist has secured second place at a Gulf competition recognising innovation in statistics, data analysis and digital technologies.

Kholoud Al-Ajmi received the award in the statistical analysis and data visualization category for her project, “Malath Platform”, during the Youth Creativity in the World of Data Awards held in Doha.

The event brought together young participants from across the Gulf region interested in digital innovation and emerging technologies, with the competition organised to coincide with Gulf Youth Day.

The initiative is open to Gulf nationals aged between 18 and 34 and aims to support young talent working in the field of data science and analytical technologies.

Organisers said the competition seeks to encourage innovative uses of data and help develop a generation capable of transforming information into practical solutions that improve decision-making and quality of life.

The award is organised through cooperation between Qatar’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Statistics Center of Qatar and the Gulf Statistical Center as part of wider efforts to strengthen data literacy and support sustainable development goals across the region.

During the ceremony, Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, secretary-general of Qatar’s National Planning Council, said countries are facing increasingly complex regional and international challenges that require accurate and reliable information.

He said the growing importance of data lies not only in collecting information, but also in the ability to analyse it effectively and turn it into insights that support better policies and stronger communities.
