Saudi Orchestra Performs in Rome During ‘Marvels of Saudi Orchestra’ Tour

Saudi Arabia’s “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” world tour arrived in Rome on Friday with a large-scale performance held at the Temple of Venus and Rome inside the Colosseum Archaeological Park.

The concert, organized by the Saudi Music Commission, featured a special appearance by Andrea Bocelli and highlighted cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and Italy through music and performing arts.

The event brought together 32 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir alongside 30 members of the Fontane di Roma Youth Orchestra under the direction of Marcello Rota. The program combined Saudi, Italian and international compositions, blending traditional Saudi melodies with globally recognized orchestral music.

Traditional Saudi performances also formed part of the evening’s program. A group of 55 performers presented cultural showcases including Ardah Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Khatwa and Yanbaawi in cooperation with the Theater and Performing Arts Commission.

One of the highlights of the concert was “Al-Hijr and Rome,” a collaborative composition exploring the historical and cultural links between Saudi Arabia and Italy. The piece was written by Saudi historian and academic Suleiman Al-Theeb and reflected centuries of cultural dialogue between the two civilizations.

Paul Pacifico described the concert as a landmark moment for Saudi music and a symbol of cultural dialogue, emphasizing the importance of building creative partnerships through international artistic collaboration.

Bocelli also praised the event, describing the collaboration as a powerful example of music’s ability to connect cultures.

The Rome performance marks the latest stop in the “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” international tour, which aims to introduce Saudi musical heritage to audiences around the world.
