BTS Draw Massive Crowd in Mexico City During High-Profile Visit

Tens of thousands of fans gathered in Mexico City on Wednesday as South Korean K-pop group BTS made a public appearance outside the National Palace following a meeting with Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum.

An estimated 50,000 fans filled the area around the palace, according to local officials, as the group briefly appeared on a balcony and waved to supporters. The scene turned into a large public gathering, with fans chanting and expressing excitement over the group’s return to the global stage.

During the appearance, BTS members greeted the crowd, with the leader Kim Nam-joon addressing fans in Spanish, saying: “I love you, I adore you. Thank you very much.”

The visit comes as the group prepares for a series of concerts in Mexico City scheduled for May 7, 9, and 10. Organizers confirmed that more than 135,000 tickets for the shows sold out within minutes, reflecting the group’s strong international demand.

The band recently returned to public activity after a nearly four-year hiatus during which members completed mandatory military service in South Korea.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum later shared images with the group, noting their visit and referencing their latest album release. Officials described the gathering as one of the largest fan turnouts seen in the capital in recent years.

Fans who attended the event expressed strong emotional reactions. Some said they had traveled long distances or were unable to secure concert tickets, making the public appearance their only opportunity to see the group in person.

The event highlights BTS’s continued global influence as one of the most prominent acts in contemporary pop music, with a fan base spanning multiple continents.
