Kuwait Charity Opens New School In Yemen To Support Education Drive

A Kuwaiti charity has inaugurated a new basic education school in Yemen’s Hadramawt Governorate as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts aimed at strengthening the country’s education sector.

The Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Association opened the Abdulrahman Al-Awjan Basic Education School in the Sah district of Hadramawt, under the “Kuwait By Your Side” campaign, which is now in its 11th year.

The inauguration ceremony highlighted Kuwait’s continued humanitarian and development role in Yemen, particularly in education and essential public services.

Hadramawt Deputy Governor Jumaan Barbaa expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s support, praising its consistent role in implementing development projects that benefit local communities and strengthen infrastructure in key sectors.

According to project officials, the new school includes 18 classrooms, administrative offices, and recreational and service facilities. It is also equipped with a solar energy system to ensure sustainable power supply, alongside an activity hall and sports fields for football, volleyball, and basketball.

The implementing organization, Istijaba Foundation, said the project aims to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students and reduce pressure on overcrowded schools in the region. Officials also noted that the facility is intended to improve educational access and learning conditions for children in Sah district.

The project was described as part of broader humanitarian contributions supported by Kuwaiti donors and partners, reflecting ongoing solidarity with communities in Yemen affected by conflict and economic challenges.

Local education officials in Wadi Hadramawt said the new school is expected to improve academic performance and increase school enrollment rates. They added that it will help ease congestion in existing educational institutions.

Sah district authorities also welcomed the project, stating that it was completed in a short timeframe and would serve as an important addition to local education infrastructure. They emphasized its role in encouraging more children to continue their studies in a stable learning environment.

The initiative reflects continued efforts by Kuwaiti humanitarian organizations to support education and development projects in Yemen, focusing on long-term community impact.
