Qatar Reads Launches Family Reading Programme at Doha Festival City to Promote Literacy and Fun Learning

Qatar Reads is taking family literacy to the next level with its Family Reading Programme (FRP), launching an interactive booth at Doha Festival City from April 1 to April 22. This initiative encourages families to develop consistent reading habits, providing accessible opportunities to discover and enroll in the program directly. Through Reads, families experience the joy of reading while engaging in educational and creative activities.

The activation features interactive storytelling sessions, reading challenges, and guided explorations of age-appropriate books. Children and parents can also enjoy literacy-based activities designed to show how reading becomes a natural, enjoyable part of everyday life. Furthermore, these activities emphasize collaboration between families, making learning both fun and meaningful.

Visitors can interact with the Qatar Reads team throughout the three-week period. Staff provide guidance on program enrollment, recommend books, and offer tips for integrating reading into daily routines. By bridging entertainment and education, the booth fosters a culture of reading across the country.

This initiative builds on the success of the previous Reading Space activation in September 2025. Qatar Reads continues to strengthen its presence in public spaces, ensuring families remain engaged with literacy opportunities. Through repeated engagement, Qatar Reads solidifies its role in nurturing young readers while supporting parental involvement in education.

Fatema Al-Malki, Manager of Qatar Reads, said, “Reading begins at home. Through the Family Reading Programme, we equip parents to make reading a consistent and enjoyable habit.” Her statement highlights the program’s commitment to empowering families and creating long-term literacy habits.

Mohamed El-Sharkawy, Associate Director of Malls Leasing at Doha Festival City, added, “We are committed to meaningful, community-driven experiences. Our collaboration with Qatar Reads inspires learning, creativity, as well as family connection.”

Overall, Qatar Reads continues to showcase how educational initiatives can unite families, support literacy development, and strengthen community engagement. Families visiting the booth leave with practical tools and newfound inspiration to continue reading together at home.
