US Embassy Issues High-Risk Security Alert for Baghdad Amid Rising Iran-Aligned Threats

Tensions are rising after a US embassy security warning highlighted possible attacks in central Baghdad. The alert, issued by the United States Embassy in Baghdad, pointed to serious risks within the next two days.

According to the statement, armed groups aligned with Iran may be planning operations in the Iraqi capital. Moreover, the embassy stressed that these groups have previously targeted American-linked locations across Iraq. As a result, concerns are growing among officials and civilians alike.

The embassy explained that potential targets could include diplomatic buildings, businesses, and infrastructure. In addition, hotels, airports, and universities may face threats. Furthermore, the warning noted that even civilian locations could become unintended targets. Therefore, the situation remains highly unpredictable.

At the same time, the embassy emphasized that attacks in the past have not been limited to Baghdad. Instead, incidents have occurred across different regions, including the Kurdistan Region. Consequently, the risk extends beyond a single location.

Officials also warned about kidnapping risks involving American citizens. Because of this, the embassy urged all US nationals to leave Iraq immediately. In addition, it advised against traveling to the country under any circumstances. This guidance reflects the highest level of caution.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government continues efforts to maintain stability. However, the embassy stated that authorities have struggled to fully prevent such attacks. Furthermore, it suggested that some armed groups may operate with complex ties inside the country.

Despite the security concerns, the US diplomatic mission continues limited operations. It aims to support citizens still inside Iraq. However, officials warned people not to approach embassy facilities in Baghdad or the consulate in Erbil. Ongoing risks include missiles, drones, and rocket fire.

The US embassy security warning also reinforced the existing travel advisory. It clearly states that Iraq remains a high-risk destination. Therefore, safety precautions remain critical for anyone currently in the country.

The situation highlights growing regional tensions and ongoing instability. As developments continue, authorities are closely monitoring potential threats. For now, the US embassy security warning serves as a strong reminder of the volatile environment in Iraq.
