Sharjah Theatre Days Book Celebrates Mohammed Jaber Legacy

The Mohammed Jaber theatre legacy takes center stage at this year’s Sharjah Theatre Days, as a new book documents the life and work of a leading Gulf artist. Moreover, the publication highlights decades of influence in regional theatre.

Art critic Abdul Sattar Naji completed the book, which focuses on Mohammed Jaber, also known as Al-Aidarousi. The project was commissioned by the Sharjah Theatre Department as part of the festival’s cultural program. The 160-page book explores Jaber’s artistic journey in detail. In addition, it includes reflections from the artist himself, offering insight into his long-standing connection with theatre. He describes his career as deeply tied to the stage and its creative energy.

Furthermore, the book follows Jaber’s recognition with the Sharjah Award for Theatrical Creativity in 2026. This achievement marks a major milestone in his career. Therefore, the publication serves as both documentation and tribute. Naji emphasizes that Jaber’s work shaped Gulf theatre over decades. He notes that the artist consistently treated theatre as a cultural responsibility. As a result, his performances reflected social realities and human experiences.

The book also examines Jaber’s early beginnings and artistic development. From the start, he showed strong awareness of art’s social role. Consequently, his performances connected closely with audiences across the region. Moreover, the publication highlights key collaborations throughout his career. It explores his work with prominent figures, including Abdulhussain Abdulredha and Hayat Al-Fahad. These partnerships helped shape memorable moments in Gulf theatre history.

In addition, the book includes multiple sections covering his achievements. These sections range from personal interviews to detailed analysis of his most notable roles. Therefore, readers gain a comprehensive understanding of his contributions. The publication also features over 40 testimonials from theatre professionals. These accounts provide diverse perspectives on Jaber’s influence. As a result, the book captures both personal and professional dimensions of his legacy.

Importantly, the work highlights his connection with younger generations. It also explores his collaborations with directors such as Fouad Al-Shatti. These relationships demonstrate his continued impact on evolving theatre practices. Additionally, this release marks the seventh book prepared by Naji for the festival. Previous editions covered leading Gulf artists, reinforcing the event’s cultural significance. Thus, the initiative continues to document regional artistic achievements.

The new publication stands as a tribute to a remarkable career. Through detailed storytelling and analysis, the Mohammed Jaber theatre legacy remains preserved for future generations.
