The Shura Council, chaired by H.E. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, has approved draft laws amending provisions of Law No. (20) of 2018 on tourism regulation and Law No. (21) of 2018 on business events regulation. Following a review by the Council’s Education, Culture, Sports, and Information Affairs Committee, the amendments were referred to the government. They will take further action.
During the session, Shura Council Secretary-General H.E. Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the agenda, and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Additionally, the Council examined a draft law supporting innovation and scientific research. This draft law was forwarded to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for further study.
The session also included discussions on reports related to the Council’s participation in international forums. For example, the Third International Forum “Women of the Third Millennium” held in Moscow and the Parliamentary Forum of the 10th edition of the Rome MED – Mediterranean Dialogues in Italy.
The amendments aim to strengthen Qatar’s tourism and business event sectors, aligning with the country’s broader economic and development goals.
