The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) highlighted the importance of Gulf security coordination in maintaining stability amid rising regional threats. Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi praised the professionalism and readiness of armed forces across GCC member states, emphasizing their role in defending sovereignty and protecting citizens.
During a visit to the Unified Military Command, Al-Budaiwi reviewed operations aimed at enhancing military integration and coordination among member states. He noted that Gulf security coordination strengthens the collective defense system and ensures rapid responses to potential attacks.
Meanwhile, GCC foreign ministers and the United Kingdom called on Iran to halt attacks immediately. They urged Tehran to refrain from provocative actions, including the use of proxy, and emphasized full respect for international law. Analysts say diplomatic engagement complements military preparedness in maintaining regional peace.
The ministers welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which condemned attacks on GCC territories and Jordan. They reaffirmed their commitment to protecting civilians, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and promoting long-term stability. Furthermore, officials stressed that Gulf security coordination is essential for sustaining peace and countering threats across the region.
In addition, GCC ministers reviewed progress on a potential free trade agreement with the UK, expressing optimism for its conclusion. They highlighted that diplomatic and economic collaboration goes hand in hand with security measures to ensure regional prosperity.
Separately, the League of Arab States condemned the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif by Israeli authorities, preventing worshippers from performing prayers during Ramadan. Officials underscored Palestine’s sovereignty over East Jerusalem and praised the Al-Quds Committee and Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency for safeguarding.
The Arab Information Ministers also called for media outlets to rely on official sources to counter misinformation regarding Iranian attacks. They urged cooperation between public and private media organizations to raise awareness and maintain responsible reporting.
Overall, GCC leaders emphasized that coordinated defense, diplomacy, and regional cooperation are critical in ensuring peace, protecting citizens, and sustaining stability amid ongoing tensions.
