Oman’s Charter Aviation Sector Boosts Tourism Revenue to OMR30 Million

Oman’s charter aviation sector generated over OMR30 million during the 2025 tourist season, strengthening the country’s tourism economy. The sector contributed significantly to accommodation, transportation, and tourist trips, excluding airport services like landing, parking, and refueling fees.

Abdullah bin Saif Al-Saadi, Head of the Maritime and Air Tourism Department at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, reported 588 charter flights operated in 2025. This reflects a notable expansion in operations and increased international demand. Approximately 93,000 passengers traveled via charter flights, demonstrating strong interest in Oman as a tourist destination.

Moreover, the charter aviation sector complements the ministry’s efforts to diversify tourist markets. By attracting visitors from various regions, it boosts hotel occupancy rates, promotes Oman’s heritage, and strengthens economic returns. Promotional campaigns helped bring tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Italy, while new markets such as Russia and Belarus also contributed to growth.

The ministry continues to encourage investment in hotel construction, especially beachside properties. These developments aim to meet the needs of charter-flight tourists, enhance service quality, stimulate regional growth, and attract high-income visitors. Such measures further solidify the charter aviation sector as a cornerstone of Oman’s tourism strategy.

Officials note that charter flights not only support economic gains but also highlight Oman’s natural and cultural attractions. Transitioning from flight operations to tourism services, the sector creates employment opportunities and strengthens the overall travel ecosystem.

Overall, the 2025 tourist season demonstrates the vital role of the charter aviation sector in Oman’s economic and tourism growth. Continued investment, strategic promotion, and efficient operations are key to sustaining momentum in upcoming seasons.

By integrating aviation, hospitality, and promotional initiatives, Oman ensures a competitive edge in regional tourism while maximizing economic benefits.
