Oman’s National Museum Unveils 2026 Cultural Vision

Oman National Museum advances cultural excellence by reviewing 2025 achievements and unveiling ambitious projects for 2026. The museum continues to strengthen Oman’s cultural identity. Moreover, it highlights international collaborations and public engagement. Oman National Museum advances cultural excellence by combining heritage preservation with modern digital initiatives.

During its annual media briefing in Muscat, the museum detailed its accomplishments from 2025. Secretary General Jamal Hassan Al Moosawi emphasized the institution’s role as a bridge between Oman and global cultural institutions. The museum hosted 39 official visits, including high-level international delegations.

The museum strengthened cultural diplomacy by organizing exhibitions in partnership with foreign embassies. Collaborations included the Embassy of Russia and the Embassy of Japan. These events celebrated bilateral ties and promoted shared cultural understanding.

Notable international exhibitions featured Oman Halls at the Nairobi National Museum and the State Hermitage Museum in Russia. Contributions also extended to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the National Art Museum of Belarus. Meanwhile, local exhibitions highlighted Omani heritage and global artistry.

The museum hosted six international and six local exhibitions during 2025. Within Oman, ten exhibitions attracted large audiences, including showcases from Sharjah, Italy, Tunisia, and Russia. These events enhanced public engagement and cultural exchange.

Digital transformation also gained prominence. The museum launched an “Audio Guide” service in Arabic and English, including accessibility features for people with disabilities. Furthermore, the “Barmajan” hackathon demonstrated Oman’s leadership in government digital innovation.

The museum also published several books and hosted dialogues with international media professionals. The events aimed to strengthen Oman’s cultural presence and educational impact worldwide.

By the end of 2025, the museum welcomed over 131,000 visitors. Its Learning Center activities further engaged local communities, reflecting a commitment to public education. Additionally, Omanization reached 100 percent for all employment roles, with 40 percent allocated to Muscat residents.

Oman National Museum advances cultural excellence through its strategic programs. These initiatives link heritage preservation, global partnerships, and technological innovation. They also ensure Oman’s museums remain a dynamic force in the international cultural landscape.

Looking ahead, the museum plans additional exhibitions, educational programs, and digital initiatives. These projects will enhance Oman’s global cultural position and foster knowledge for future generations.
