QFFD Strengthens Disaster Preparedness at DMC-10

The QFFD disaster preparedness initiative reached new heights as Director-General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti visited the 10th Disaster Management Camp (DMC-10) in Doha. The QFFD disaster preparedness initiative plays a key role in training youth to respond effectively to crises and emergencies. This camp, funded by QFFD and implemented by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), highlights Qatar’s commitment to regional safety and humanitarian action.

During the visit, Al Sulaiti toured six training tents where participants engage in morning and evening sessions. He also inspected the deployable field hospital and medical clinic. With 25 beds and 13 expandable tents, the emergency facility includes reception, triage, short-stay, outpatient clinics for both genders, radiology, laboratory, sterilization, and operating theatres.

At the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Emergency Response (ERU-MHPSS) Unit, Al Sulaiti reviewed services offered to Palestinian and Afghan families hosted in Qatar. The unit is preparing for international accreditation as the world’s fourth specialized facility of its kind. The tour concluded at the Disaster Information Management Centre (DIMC), which monitors international disasters using advanced real-time systems and coordinates with global humanitarian partners.

Al Sulaiti expressed enthusiasm about the program. “At QFFD, we are dedicated to the QFFD disaster preparedness initiative, empowering Qatari and Arab youth to manage crises regionally and globally,” he said.

The DMC-10 also equips participants with skills in emergency management, medical assistance, and psychosocial support. Moreover, it fosters collaboration between national and international disaster response teams. Students gain hands-on experience in high-pressure scenarios while learning vital coordination and leadership skills.

Through these efforts, Qatar strengthens its disaster response capabilities while promoting regional cooperation. The initiative also underscores the importance of youth engagement in humanitarian efforts. QFFD’s approach combines training, technology, and community outreach to build a safer and more resilient society.
