Oman Sets Record with Fastest One-Stop Customs Permits

Oman’s Directorate General of Customs has revolutionized trade efficiency with Oman’s one-stop customs system, issuing more than 140,000 permits in 2025. Some permits were completed in just 16 seconds, showing how digital solutions streamline processes. This achievement highlights Oman’s commitment to speed, transparency, and economic growth.

The milestone coincided with World Customs Day, themed “Customs protects society through vigilance and commitment.” The celebration emphasized how Oman’s one-stop customs system integrates multiple government agencies digitally, allowing complete electronic processing of permits and efficient risk management.

The system is part of the larger Bayan platform, which links customs operations with other government entities. Officials explained that the integration ensures compliance without slowing trade, while preventing prohibited goods from entering the country. Digital transformation is now a strategic tool for both security and commerce.

Beyond the one-stop permits, the Directorate processed over 1.29 million customs declarations in 2025. Advanced tools like artificial intelligence helped officers detect more than 1,000 smuggling or prohibited import cases, marking a 10% increase from 2024. These results show that high-volume efficiency and strict control can coexist successfully.

Moreover, the initiative supports Oman’s economic diversification goals. By reducing administrative barriers, it attracts investment and accelerates the flow of goods across borders. Businesses now benefit from faster processing, allowing them to compete more effectively in regional and global markets.

The Directorate also focuses on developing national talent to manage advanced digital systems. In addition, public awareness campaigns and a 24-hour toll-free call center (80080022) assist traders and travelers alike. Officials emphasized that the system ensures both convenience and compliance, making trade operations smoother for everyone.

In conclusion, Oman’s one-stop customs system has become a benchmark for efficiency, combining speed, security, and economic support. By leveraging technology, Oman demonstrates how government services can meet modern demands while protecting national interests. The system shows a clear path for other countries aiming to modernize trade and logistics through digital transformation.
