Humanitarian access for Gaza remains limited, and Qatar is urging international partners to ensure aid reaches those in need. At Davos on Tuesday, the prime minister highlighted that despite some improvements, many people still struggle without essential support.
“The situation may be slightly better than last year, but humanitarian aid is still blocked,” he said. “We need humanitarian access for Gaza to help the people.”
He added that Qatar is working closely with the United States, Egypt, and Turkiye to support the newly formed technocratic government in Gaza. This government works to improve daily life and deliver essential services efficiently.
The 15-member body, led by Ali Shaath, a former deputy minister in the Palestinian Authority, forms part of phase two of a plan to stabilize Gaza and end ongoing conflicts.
Meanwhile, UN officials have reported that Gaza remains in crisis. Residents face displacement, trauma, and deprivation. Aid restrictions prevent organizations from providing sufficient support, leaving only temporary relief in place.
Therefore, the prime minister stressed that lifting restrictions, funding early recovery efforts, and ensuring sustained donor support are critical. These actions will allow communities to rebuild and receive necessary protection.
Turning to Syria, he noted that rebuilding state institutions after 15 years of conflict is challenging. He stressed that creating inclusive governance is essential for long-term stability. “Everyone in Syria wants a stable country, equal treatment, and rights protection,” he said.
He also urged the international community to help Syria reconstruct institutions and build a system that includes all citizens. This approach will strengthen governance and protect human rights across diverse communities.
Recently, a new four-day truce was agreed in Hasakah province. Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces will consult to develop a detailed plan. If finalized, Syrian forces will avoid entering city centers and Kurdish villages.
In addition, the prime minister highlighted Qatar’s economic role and energy resources. He explained that AI and technology advancements will increase energy demand, positioning Qatar at the center of global progress. The country plans to help domestic companies compete internationally and launch supportive platforms later this year.
Through these efforts, Qatar emphasizes that humanitarian access for Gaza is a priority. Moreover, lessons from Syria’s recovery process can guide long-term solutions. By promoting cooperation and coordination, countries can protect communities and foster stability across the region.
