Saudi Arabia has officially opened a $1 billion theme park, featuring the world’s tallest, longest, and fastest rollercoaster. Six Flags Qiddiya City welcomed visitors on 31 December, after four years of construction. This park now serves as a landmark for the kingdom’s entertainment industry.
The park offers 28 attractions, including Falcon’s Flight, a rollercoaster that reaches 195 meters and speeds of 155 mph. With this ride, the park showcases its record-breaking attractions and secures a global reputation.
Additionally, five more record-breaking attractions spread across six themed zones. Visitors can explore coral-inspired Discovery Springs, steampunk-themed Steam Town, and the firefly-lit Twilight Gardens. They can also enjoy the treasure-filled Valley of Fortune, the Grand Exposition, and the action-packed City of Thrills. Each zone combines unique visuals with immersive experiences, enhancing visitor engagement.
Highlights include Gyrospin, the world’s tallest pendulum ride, Spitfire, a triple-launch rollercoaster, and Iron Rattler, the tallest tilt rollercoaster at 63.4 meters. Furthermore, the park offers 29 dining venues celebrating Saudi tastes alongside global flavors. Visitors can also browse 25 themed shopping outlets.
Six Flags Qiddiya City represents the first Six Flags park outside North America and is Saudi Arabia’s largest. Qiddiya Investment Company announced a SAR 3.75 billion (£742 million) contract in December 2021, and construction began the same month. Adult tickets start at 325 riyals (£64) for unlimited access.
The park forms part of the larger Qiddiya City entertainment complex in the Tuwaiq Mountains near Riyadh. Future projects include a Formula 1 racetrack, a World Cup stadium, and the Aquarabia water park, set to open in March.
