Kuwait has officially launched its cultural festivities with a spectacular theatrical performance, Earth Ocean, at the National Theater in the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. The event, which blends heritage with innovation, beautifully represents Kuwait’s rich past, dynamic present, and hopeful future.
The festivities were inaugurated under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. There was a speech by Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs. He highlighted the significant role of culture and media in shaping society and strengthening national identity. He emphasized Kuwait’s leadership in arts, culture, and media. He also noted its commitment to global cultural promotion.
Al-Qurain Cultural Festival‘s honoree, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghami, was also recognized at the event. The winners of the State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards were acknowledged for their contributions to intellectual and artistic endeavors.
The grand performance Earth Ocean celebrated Kuwait’s cultural identity through a mix of historical storytelling, music, and modern technical effects. It featured six segments, including stories of Kuwaiti astronomer Dr. Saleh Al-Ajiri. The performance blended elements from Kuwait’s rich heritage and history with contemporary performance art.
The opening ceremony also included the presentation of the Kuwait as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media 2025 shield. This recognizes Kuwait’s pivotal role in the Arab world’s cultural landscape.
Distinguished figures in art, literature, and music were also honored, such as Khaled Al-Obeid and Sanaa Al-Kharaz. Emerging talents in fields like literature, poetry, and television were also recognized.
This event marks a significant cultural moment for Kuwait as it prepares to host Arab culture and media celebrations throughout 2025.
