Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has delegated certain duties to the Security and Safety Services Corporation to improve the efficiency of labour inspections in Oman. Starting from January 5, 2025, the corporation will play a vital role in monitoring illegal employment practices across the country.

The Ministry of Labour’s decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure fair and legal employment practices within the country. By assigning this responsibility to the Security and Safety Services Corporation, the ministry aims to strengthen the monitoring and enforcement of labour laws. This move is expected to enhance the country’s efforts to combat illegal employment. Additionally, it will promote a fair working environment for all workers.

The Security and Safety Services Corporation will now be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the labour inspection process. This includes identifying and addressing illegal employment cases. This collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the corporation is expected to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness of labour inspections.

With its new mandate, the Security and Safety Services Corporation will be tasked with conducting inspections. It will ensure that businesses comply with labour laws. This includes checking work permits, verifying employment contracts, and identifying any potential violations. The corporation will work closely with the Ministry of Labour to ensure that all employers meet the necessary legal requirements.

The initiative aims to create a safer, more transparent work environment by reducing illegal employment. By enhancing labour inspections, the government is working towards improving the rights and working conditions of all employees in Oman.
