Bahrain Honors Journalists with New Association Headquarters and Media Law

Bahrain has reinforced its support for media freedom by granting land for a new Bahrain Journalists Association headquarters. It also ratified the Press and Electronic Media Law. This move highlights Bahrain’s commitment to empowering national journalism, a principle that guides these initiatives.

Issa Al-Shayji, president of the Bahrain Journalists Association, expressed deep gratitude for this support. He called the land allocation a strong signal of Bahrain’s commitment to empowering national journalism. The new headquarters will provide journalists with modern resources and a professional hub to enhance their work.

During a recent meeting, Al-Shayji discussed the importance of the new media law. He explained that it strengthens freedom of expression while ensuring accountability and credibility. He added that the law marks a major step forward in Bahrain’s media development.

Al-Shayji emphasized that the association’s board appreciated the leadership’s clear vision for the press. The guidance encourages journalists to fulfill their responsibilities responsibly and effectively. Moreover, Bahrain’s legal framework now enables media professionals to operate efficiently within modern standards.

The president noted Bahrain’s long-standing encouragement of a free press. He pointed out the leadership’s efforts to foster an enlightened media environment. For example, Bahrain participates annually in World Press Freedom Day to show its support for independent journalism.

Furthermore, Al-Shayji praised the government, led by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for actively supporting the national press. This backing has helped Bahraini journalists overcome global challenges while maintaining credibility and influence.

He concluded that these steps reflect Bahrain’s belief in the media’s role as a driver of awareness, development, and national progress. Through these initiatives, the country continues promoting a vibrant, responsible, and professional journalism culture.
