Qatar Strengthens Global Cooperation to Advance Sustainable Development Goals

Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to international collaboration and multilateral action, highlighting sustainable development as a national priority. The nation emphasized that strengthening multilateral cooperation is central to achieving its 2030 development vision.

At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dana Younis Darwish, a member of Qatar’s delegation, addressed the Second Committee on Sustainable Development. She explained that Qatar presented its fourth Voluntary National Review in July, showcasing ambitious national efforts to implement the Qatar National Vision 2030. These initiatives demonstrate how strengthening multilateral cooperation can accelerate progress in education, healthcare, digital transformation, and social inclusion.

Darwish highlighted that Qatar achieved 82 indicators across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The country also ensured national health coverage exceeding 95% and ranked among the top 20 globally for wage equality. These accomplishments reflect a clear strategy where strengthening multilateral cooperation supports both domestic and international development objectives.

The statement also emphasized Qatar’s active engagement with multilateral agencies. The nation works closely with these organizations to respond to crises and promote global development. Darwish noted that the presence of 14 UN offices at the UN House in Doha reflects the deep collaboration between Qatar and international organizations.

Qatar maintains a pioneering role in humanitarian and development assistance, prioritizing education even in emergency situations. From 2020 to 2024, the country spent approximately $4.8 billion in foreign aid, focusing on least-developed countries. Programs such as Education Above All have benefited more than 10 million children across 60 nations.

In addition, Qatar invests in innovative initiatives like the UNDP’s Accelerator Labs, contributing over $30 million to find community-driven solutions for development challenges. These efforts demonstrate Qatar’s strategy to combine domestic growth with global responsibility.

Darwish concluded by reiterating Qatar’s unwavering dedication to accelerating the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The country aims to meet citizens’ aspirations for sustainable, inclusive, and comprehensive growth while advancing international collaboration.

Qatar’s focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation underscores its role as a leading global partner in sustainable development and humanitarian assistance. Through these measures, the nation demonstrates leadership both at home and abroad, setting an example in international collaboration and global progress.
