Iraq Tightens Grip on Baath Cells Amid Rising Violence Across Provinces

Iraq’s National Security Service (INSS) strengthened Iraq’s security efforts this week by tracking Baath Party remnants and stopping violent acts nationwide. The operations show Baghdad’s strong commitment to protecting citizens and restoring peace across all regions.

Officials said the INSS broke up Baath-linked groups in 14 provinces after a three-month intelligence campaign. They arrested 135 suspects with court approval. The move marks a major step forward for Iraq’s security efforts and shows the government’s focus on stability and law enforcement.

Meanwhile, violence continues to trouble several parts of the country. In Baghdad, two separate shootings injured three people. One man suffered serious wounds after a family dispute turned violent. Another fight in Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood ended with gunfire that hurt two people. Police quickly arrived, helped the injured, and secured the area.

In Al-Muthanna province, an online argument led to deadly violence. A fight over a Facebook post ended in gunfire that killed one person and injured four others. Two victims remain in critical condition. Local authorities also began an investigation and urged citizens to avoid spreading hate or anger online.

In Baghdad’s Al-Rusafa district, the Anti-Crime Department caught a gang that stole motorcycles. Officers followed the suspects for weeks before arresting them in a coordinated raid. The department said this operation will help lower theft rates across the capital.

In Samarra, Saladin province, police found and detained a man who escaped custody earlier that day. Officials confirmed he faced fraud charges, clearing up false rumors about his background.

In Nineveh province, two men injured themselves while cleaning their weapons. One incident happened in Khanasour near Sinjar, and the other in Al-Quds, Mosul. Both victims received hospital treatment and are recovering well.

These incidents highlight the need for stronger cooperation between citizens and security forces. Iraq’s security efforts continue to grow each week, while reflecting the government’s steady push for stability and safety in every province. Through constant vigilance and teamwork, Iraq is building a more secure and peaceful future.
