Federal Authority for Ambulance and Civil Defence Announced in UAE

The UAE has announced the creation of the Federal Authority for Ambulance and Civil Defence to strengthen the country’s emergency response framework and enhance public safety. This strategic move aims to unify national efforts under one integrated system to improve coordination, speed, and efficiency during emergencies.

The Federal Authority will operate under the UAE Cabinet and replace the Civil Defence Department, assuming its responsibilities and the relevant duties of the National Guard Command related to ambulance services. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, has been appointed as Chairman, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring health and safety remain national priorities.

Authorities explained that the new body will focus on developing national strategies, laws, and technical standards for both ambulance and civil defence operations. It will regulate fire safety measures, prevention systems, and inspection procedures for buildings and public facilities. These standards aim to minimize risk, protect lives, and ensure compliance across all sectors.

In addition, the Federal Authority will manage nationwide emergency ambulance services, ensuring rapid response to urgent cases and critical injuries. Officials also confirmed plans to develop a comprehensive public warning system in collaboration with the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority. This system will alert residents to potential threats and improve real-time communication during emergencies.

The new authority will coordinate with federal and local entities to streamline data management and information sharing. It will also provide technical consulting and operational guidance to improve national resilience against emergencies.

Furthermore, the organization will introduce specialized training and awareness programs across the country. These initiatives aim to boost the readiness of emergency teams and promote public understanding of safety practices. Joint drills and national exercises will play a key role in strengthening preparedness.

Experts view this restructuring as a milestone in modernizing the UAE’s emergency response system. By centralizing command and oversight, the Federal Authority will ensure faster decision-making and unified action during crises.

The UAE continues to invest in advanced emergency infrastructure and technology to protect citizens and residents. Officials stated that the authority’s creation represents a major step toward achieving world-class standards in safety, prevention, and rapid response.

This development reflects the UAE’s broader national vision to enhance resilience, promote inter-agency collaboration, and safeguard communities across the nation.
