Iraq’s Leaders Congratulate National Team on Victory Over Indonesia

Iraqi leaders congratulated the national football team for its remarkable victory over Indonesia in the Asian play-offs for the 2026 World Cup. The team’s 1-0 win in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, brought pride and excitement to football fans across the country.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandlawi praised the players for their outstanding performance and strong spirit. He said the victory was both “precious and well-deserved,” reflecting the hard work and dedication of the entire team. Al-Mandlawi commended the technical and administrative staff for preparing the players at such a high level. He also encouraged the team to continue their efforts in the upcoming matches to achieve Iraq’s dream of qualifying for the World Cup.

At the same time, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani reached out to the team to express his support and confidence. His call came shortly before the match against Indonesia, showing his close attention to the team’s journey. Al-Sudani wished the players success and urged them to stay focused throughout the qualifiers. He reminded them that football carries deep meaning for Iraqis and unites people through pride and joy.
