The Vietnam-Qatar relations continue to grow stronger, reflecting a partnership built on shared ambitions and mutual trust. As Vietnam celebrates its 80th Independence Day, the two nations highlighted expanding trade, cultural exchanges, and upcoming high-level visits that signal closer cooperation.
During a recent media briefing, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar highlighted the importance of bilateral ties. He explained that trade between the two nations reached $860 million in 2024, marking a $100 million increase from the previous year. This growth underscores the steady progress achieved since relations were established in 1993.
The Ambassador noted that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s 2024 visit to Qatar gave fresh momentum to the partnership. He pointed out that both countries are expanding cooperation in logistics, technology, cybersecurity, tourism, and food security. Furthermore, he explained that these initiatives align with Qatar’s sustainable development goals and Vietnam’s green-digital economy strategy.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Vietnam-Qatar relations are expected to expand even further. Vietnam aims to supply agricultural products and new technologies to strengthen Qatar’s food security. At the same time, opportunities in renewable energy, software, and IT will deepen cooperation. Tourism and aviation, especially through Qatar Airways, also stand out as promising areas for joint growth.
Cultural diplomacy has played a key role in the partnership. To mark Vietnam’s Independence Day, the Embassy organized the “Vietnam’s Soul” exhibition at Katara Cultural Village, featuring art from Impressionism to modern styles. The initiative aims to strengthen cultural understanding and people-to-people connections.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of supporting Vietnam’s community in Qatar, which numbers around 600 people. He recently met workers at a steel construction company, thanking them for their contributions while encouraging integration and cultural exchange.
Future events will further cement ties. In 2025, Qatar will join Vietnam at the UN Cybercrime Convention in Hanoi. Meanwhile, Vietnam will attend Qatar’s World Summit on Social Development in November. These meetings highlight a mutual commitment to cooperation on global challenges.
Ultimately, the Vietnam-Qatar relations showcase a forward-looking alliance. Both nations remain confident that their growing partnership will continue to deliver economic progress, cultural exchange, and stronger diplomatic ties.
