Qatar Airways Expands Presence in New York with Terminal One Move

Qatar Airways, named World’s Best Airline 2025 for the ninth time, announced a new chapter in the Qatar Airways expansion strategy. The carrier will relocate its New York operations to the new Terminal One at JFK International Airport in 2026. This move strengthens Qatar Airways’ U.S. presence and, moreover, highlights its commitment to delivering superior passenger experiences.

Since beginning flights to New York in 2008, Qatar Airways has steadily grown its American footprint. Today, it serves 11 U.S. cities and carries more than three million passengers each year. Furthermore, with 18 weekly flights from New York, it connects travelers to over 170 destinations through Doha’s Hamad International Airport.

The Qatar Airways expansion also includes the launch of the airline’s first exclusive lounge in the United States. The 15,000-square-foot facility at Terminal One will feature VIP check-in, prayer rooms, relaxation areas, and premium dining. In addition, direct boarding gate access from the lounge will ensure seamless travel for Business Class passengers.

Terminal One, part of JFK’s $19 billion redevelopment, offers state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is leading this massive project. As a result, travelers can expect modern terminals, advanced technology, and simplified connections. Therefore, Qatar Airways views this move as essential to its growth and service ambitions.

Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer noted that New York remains a vital destination in the airline’s network. He stressed that the relocation demonstrates Qatar Airways’ determination to enhance services in the United States. Meanwhile, the airline continues to align expansion with its mission to connect people globally.

Qatar Airways also emphasized that innovation and luxury remain central to its global strategy. By investing in premium lounges and customer-focused facilities, it continues to raise international aviation standards. Finally, this development ensures passengers enjoy a travel experience that reflects Qatar Airways’ reputation for excellence.

The Qatar Airways expansion at JFK highlights its role as a bridge between Qatar and the world, reinforcing its global leadership.
