The event gathered more than 30 representatives from over 15 government entities. It focused on ways to adopt artificial intelligence technologies in public sector development.

At the opening, officials emphasized that artificial intelligence for sustainability is becoming a vital tool in shaping modern governance. In addition, they highlighted the importance of building capabilities to meet global advancements and ensure that national institutions remain competitive.

The workshop forms part of an initiative by Bain & Company and the World Economic Forum’s Leaders for a Sustainable Middle East and North Africa community. However, the program aims to identify effective areas where artificial intelligence technologies can enhance sustainability across diverse fields.

Participants explored several leading international examples of AI-based models in government. Experts from Bain & Company provided detailed presentations on current practices in the Middle East, showing how such technologies can improve efficiency and transparency.

The sessions also addressed requirements for developing effective AI-based solutions. Speakers stressed the need for governments to invest in technical infrastructure and talent development. They underlined that innovation in the public sector depends on building reliable prototypes and scalable solutions.

During group discussions, participants examined opportunities to integrate AI into national plans. They looked at methods for accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals and ways to align projects with Bahrain’s sustainability priorities.

The workshop also included an evaluation of scalable technical solutions. Attendees discussed their potential impact on performance efficiency, service delivery, and citizen satisfaction. They agreed that practical applications must deliver measurable results for both residents and institutions.

Participants commended Bahrain’s commitment to promoting innovation across government services. They noted that the systematic integration of AI reflects the country’s determination to stay ahead in sustainable development.

By the end of the event, the Ministry of Sustainable Development reaffirmed its pledge to strengthen Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for innovation.
