The Bahrain Journalists Association elections are set for Saturday, and preparations are moving quickly. The committee includes Tariq Al-Amer, Ali Al-Qumaish, and Rayan Al-Essa. They will personally review each application and verify that all details match the stated requirements. By the close of nominations at 1:00 PM yesterday, 14 candidates had entered the race. Two are competing for the presidency, while 12 are running for board membership. The presidential contenders are current president Issa Al-Shaiji and journalist Ali Saleh. Additionally, board candidates include Mariam Anwar Ahmed, Hind Ahmed Karam, Marwa Khamis Al-Akrawi, Rasha Al-Ibrahim, Lulwa Abu Dalameh, Yasmine Al-Aqidat, Rashid Al-Hamr, Mohammed Bahr, Saeed Mohammed, Faisal Al-Ali, Saud Al-Jowder, and Mansour Shaker.
The association’s bylaws require members to vote for the president separately from the board. Furthermore, members will choose the board collectively, which creates a clear separation between leadership roles and general representation. This system also supports balanced decision-making once the new term begins.
The General Assembly meeting will take place at the Alumni Club, where members will address several key matters. First, they will review the literary and financial reports.
