Oman has been awarded the prestigious “Excellence and Innovation Award” at the 26th Gulf Engineering Forum for its groundbreaking project, “Combined Combustion Truck for Carbon Reduction.” The award was presented during the forum, which is currently being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain until February 13, 2025, under the theme “Challenges of Energy Conversion.”
The Omani project, developed by Blue Ice Oman, aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation solutions. It focuses on the development of a combined combustion engine for trucks that uses a blend of hydrogen and diesel, resulting in a 50% reduction in carbon emissions. This initiative is part of Oman’s broader commitment to achieving its Zero Neutrality Strategy 2050, which aims for zero emissions in the future.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology is representing Oman at the forum, which gathers experts from various fields, including energy, environmental conservation, and industrial innovation. The forum highlights key engineering challenges related to energy transformation and seeks to find innovative solutions to address these issues.
Throughout the three-day event, participants will engage in dialogue sessions and workshops, discussing energy transformation, renewable energy, decarbonization strategies, and the technologies needed to create a sustainable clean energy future.
The award marks a significant achievement for Oman as it continues to make strides in advancing environmental sustainability and energy innovation.
