Qatar’s 2036 Olympic Bid Highlights Global Sports Leadership: PM

Qatar’s official submission to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games represents a defining moment in its national journey. This is according to Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

He emphasized that the Qatar 2036 Olympic bid reflects the country’s leading role in global sports. Notably, if Qatar is selected, it will become the first nation in the Middle East and North Africa to host the Olympic Games. This highlights its readiness and advanced organizational capacity.

The Prime Minister explained that this bid builds on Qatar’s proven experience, particularly the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This event received international praise as the most successful edition in the tournament’s history. Moreover, Qatar has consistently demonstrated its ability to organize large-scale events in a safe, inclusive, and efficient manner.

In addition, the country’s globally renowned hospitality and strong community engagement have enriched previous events. These characteristics not only reflect core Qatari and Arab values but also enhance the visitor experience significantly.

Beyond event planning, the bid offers a comprehensive vision. Specifically, it frames sport as a universal language—one that fosters peace, drives sustainable development, and connects diverse cultures. Consequently, the bid aligns with Qatar’s national strategy and its long-standing motto: “Sport for Peace.”

Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the country’s advanced security infrastructure. He referenced Qatar’s pivotal role in managing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This experience is now helping support the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This demonstrates the country’s ability to export knowledge and assist other global sporting efforts.

With state-of-the-art venues, world-class infrastructure, and deep-rooted expertise, Qatar is offering a strong and trusted bid. Therefore, the 2036 Olympic Games would provide a platform to showcase cultural diversity and foster international cooperation.

Importantly, the Qatar 2036 Olympic bid echoes the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. This includes building a balanced society through sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental sectors. By embracing sport as a tool for unity and progress, the bid aims to promote national identity. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen civic participation and boost Qatar’s global influence.
