The Eidaad training program continues to support higher education students in Oman with the launch of its sixth phase. This initiative is a joint effort by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The program was officially launched at the Arab Open University in Seeb. Her Excellency Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, led the event. The ceremony marked a significant step in enhancing academic and industry cooperation in Oman.
The Eidaad training program targets students in their penultimate academic year. Participants come from both public and private higher education institutions across the country. The goal is to equip them with essential workplace skills by immersing them in real work environments.
This edition includes participation from 28 higher education institutions. In addition, 41 companies and institutions from the private and industrial sectors are sponsoring the program. Since the program’s first launch in 2020, over 1,000 students have completed the training.
The Eidaad training program helps students gain technical expertise and job-relevant knowledge. Moreover, it supports the national objective of linking education with labor market demands. Students spend an academic year gaining practical experience, preparing them for meaningful employment after graduation.
During the launch event, a new career path mapping unit was announced. This tool will help students and academic advisors make informed career decisions. It provides a clear connection between academic fields and relevant job opportunities.
Furthermore, representatives signed 12 cooperation agreements at the event. These agreements involved academic institutions and both industrial and private sector organizations. Dr. Rahma signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Farid bin Khalfan Al Harthy represented PDO.
The agreements aim to expand systematic training opportunities for students. This collaboration ensures stronger alignment between academic curricula and industry needs.
Ultimately, the Eidaad training program plays a vital role in developing job-ready graduates in Oman. It strengthens ties between academia and industry, while helping students prepare for real-world challenges. This phase reaffirms national efforts to boost employability through structured, hands-on learning.
