Lacaro Du Croate (No Risk Al Maury) achieved a stunning victory in the Gr 1 (PA) Criterium des Pouliches – Wathba Stallions at La Teste yesterday. The 1,900-meter race, for fillies and mares aged four and older, attracted 11 strong Purebred Arabian contenders. It was a memorable Criterium des Pouliches event.
From the start, Lacaro Du Croate broke sharply and quickly settled in midfield in the Criterium des Pouliches. Although the pace stayed steady early, it started to build near the final turn.
At that moment, jockey Cristian Demuro guided Lacaro Du Croate to the outside for a clear path. When asked for her finishing effort in the Criterium des Pouliches, she responded immediately and surged forward.
With only 200 meters left, Lacaro Du Croate took the lead confidently. She pulled away from her rivals and won by one and three-quarter lengths, confirming her impressive form.
Meanwhile, Nour Al Maury, owned by Al Shaqab Racing and trained by Thomas Fourcy, finished strongly to secure second place under Christophe Soumillon. Bianca De Ghazal stayed on well to claim third, only a short head behind, with Maxime Guyon riding.
Bred by J.F. Boudet, Lacaro Du Croate is out of Beanie Du Croate. Beanie Du Croate won over 1,850 meters at age three and produced other winners. Furthermore, Lacaro Du Croate is a half-sister to Image Du Croate, a Gr 1 (PA) winner over 2,000 meters and a Gr 3 (PA) winner over 1,600 meters.
Lacaro Du Croate’s victory at La Teste adds a major title to her growing record. In addition, it confirms her ability to compete at the highest level among Purebred Arabian fillies.
