Qatar Reserve Team Gears Up for William Jones International Championship

Qatar Reserve Team is set to travel to Chinese Taipei for the 44th William Jones International Men’s Basketball Championship. The tournament will run from July 12 to 20, 2025. Mishaal Abdullah Al-Malki, a Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) Board member, will lead the delegation.

This major event, organized by the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA), features top teams from around the world. Teams from Bahrain, Japan, Malaysia, UAE, Australia, and the Philippines Strong Group will all compete. Moreover, Chinese Taipei will join with two teams, named A and B.

Importantly, the Qatar Reserve Team faces a tough schedule with eight matches in just nine days. They begin against the UAE on July 12. Then, they play Japan on July 13 and Australia on July 14. The next day, they meet Strong Group in a challenging game.

Following this, they will face Chinese Taipei B on July 16 and Bahrain on July 17. After that, they take on Chinese Taipei A on July 19. Finally, they close the tournament against Malaysia on July 20.

Meanwhile, the team has been training hard in Doha and will finish camp on July 10. Coaches focused on physical strength and technical skills to ensure top performance. As a result, the team feels fully prepared.

Notably, the William Jones Tournament began in 1977 and remains one of the oldest basketball events worldwide. It honors Renato William Jones, the founder of the International Basketball Federation. Therefore, it offers national teams and university clubs a valuable platform to gain experience and boost global exposure.

After this tournament, the Qatar Reserve Team will compete in the Arab Nations Championship. That event will take place in Tunisia from July 23 to August 3, 2025. Consequently, these back-to-back tournaments are part of a strategy to combine experienced players with emerging talents.

Additionally, these events help build team chemistry and improve competitive readiness. Thus, players gain confidence and adapt to high-level challenges.

Ultimately, the Qatar Reserve Team aims to perform strongly and represent the nation proudly on the global stage. Fans eagerly await their journey and hope to see impressive results from this determined squad.
