Streamlined Umrah Experience Saudi Arabia Issues Over 190,000 Visas as Season Begins

Saudi Arabia has issued more than 190,000 Umrah visas since the start of the new pilgrimage season, marking a strong beginning for the Hijri year 1447 AH. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed the numbers, highlighting efforts to provide a streamlined Umrah experience for international pilgrims.

The season officially began on 14 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1446 AH (1 July 2025), with visa processing available through the Nusuk platform. This digital system simplifies application procedures, ensuring a streamlined Umrah experience for worshippers. Additionally, the app offers permit bookings and other essential services for pilgrims.

Authorities attribute the high demand to recent improvements in Hajj operations. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia welcomed over 1.67 million Hajj pilgrims, thanks to upgraded infrastructure and smoother processes. Now, the Kingdom aims to replicate this success for Umrah travelers by enhancing digital services.

“Beyond visa processing, Saudi authorities have introduced smart technologies across holy sites to further enhance the pilgrim journey. Real-time crowd monitoring, AI-powered guidance systems, and expanded multilingual support now contribute to an even more streamlined Umrah experience, ensuring safety and convenience for all visitors. These technological advancements demonstrate the Kingdom’s proactive approach to accommodating growing numbers of pilgrims while maintaining the spiritual essence of the pilgrimage.”

The Nusuk platform plays a key role in modernizing pilgrimage management. Pilgrims can now apply for visas, book accommodations, and access guidance—all in one place. As a result, the streamlined Umrah experience aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals for tourism and religious travel.

Looking ahead, officials expect visa numbers to rise further as the season progresses. With efficient systems in place, Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its position as the leading destination for Muslim pilgrims worldwide.
