Fake Employment Records Prompt MoHRE Crackdown

The issue of fake employment records has triggered firm action from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). In an ongoing effort to protect the UAE’s labour market, MoHRE continues to crack down on fraudulent employment practices.

Since early 2025, MoHRE uncovered violations by nearly 1,300 companies. Around 1,800 employers registered workers without assigning them any real duties. These companies listed employees on paper but failed to provide actual jobs or tasks.

In response, MoHRE issued strict penalties. It fined the offending companies over Dh34 million. Furthermore, the ministry suspended their access to new work permits. Authorities also downgraded these firms to the lowest private sector category.

This lowest category brings serious consequences. Companies in this group face higher fees and tougher operational restrictions. Additionally, MoHRE blocked these businesses from registering new firms through its official systems.

All these measures align with the UAE’s labour laws and recent policy updates. The government remains committed to transparency, compliance, and protecting legitimate workers’ rights.

Moreover, MoHRE called on business owners to take action. They must cancel their company licenses once operations end. They must also update the employment status of registered workers immediately. Delays in doing so could lead to serious legal trouble.

Fake employment records damage more than just paperwork. MoHRE emphasized that these cases distort the balance of the entire labour market. They also undermine trust in official systems. To prevent further abuse, the ministry continues regular inspections. MoHRE urged companies to cooperate fully with inspection teams and correct any violations promptly.

Through these efforts, MoHRE seeks to eliminate fake employment entirely. These proactive steps reflect the nation’s vision of a fair, transparent, and competitive job market. The crackdown boosts employer accountability. Ultimately, these reforms will benefit honest businesses and provide better protection for genuine employees. By tackling fake employment records head-on, MoHRE reinforces the UAE’s leadership in building an ethical and efficient labour system.
