Fiera Qatar Equity Fund Launches with $200 Million Backing from QIA

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Fiera Capital have officially launched the Fiera Qatar Equity Fund, a $200 million mutual fund designed to boost equity investments in Qatar’s stock market.

With a focus on actively managed exposure, the fund targets equities listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE). It is available to both local and international institutional investors seeking long-term, risk-adjusted returns.

Importantly, QIA is acting as the anchor investor by contributing a mix of cash and stocks. This move highlights QIA’s ongoing support for Qatar’s capital markets and reflects its strategy to improve market liquidity.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to attract overseas asset managers and diversify the market landscape. QIA’s CEO, Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi, emphasized that this partnership supports economic diversification. “Attracting global investment to Qatar’s equity market will enhance participation and competitiveness,” he noted.

Notably, this is the second partnership under QIA’s Active Asset Management Initiative. It follows the successful launch of a previous fund in collaboration with the Ashmore Group.

Klaus Schuster, Executive Director and CEO of Fiera Capital EMEA, expressed confidence in the collaboration. “Being selected by QIA reflects our global investment strength,” he said. “We are now responsible for deploying this capital effectively to support Qatar’s market growth.”

As a result, the fund strengthens ties between QIA and leading global asset managers. It also aligns with Qatar’s vision of building a modern, dynamic financial ecosystem.

Fiera Capital, which manages over $117 billion in assets as of March 31, 2025, brings deep international expertise. Consequently, its involvement enhances investor confidence in the fund’s management.

In addition, Ashmore Group is opening a Doha office, reinforcing QIA’s broader goal to internationalize its financial partnerships.

The Fiera Qatar Equity Fund marks a major milestone in Qatar’s investment strategy. It showcases the country’s commitment to sustainable growth and positions the QSE as a competitive investment destination in the region.
