Drive Safely Campaign Educates UAE Drivers on Drug Risks

The Drive Safely campaign has reached over 1.5 million residents across the UAE in the past four years. Moreover, the initiative focuses on educating new drivers about the dangers of drug use behind the wheel. Consequently, authorities integrated the campaign into official driving school curricula in Abu Dhabi. This approach ensures the message reaches people preparing for their driving licences. Furthermore, the campaign uses multiple languages to connect with the country’s diverse communities.

The campaign operates in collaboration with the Emirates Driving Company and the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. In fact, it forms a core part of training for driving licence applicants in Abu Dhabi. The programme includes modules offered in Arabic, English, Urdu, Pashto, and Malayalam. This multilingual delivery helps break down barriers to understanding crucial safety information. As a result, the Drive Safely campaign has a broader and more inclusive reach.

Brigadier Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of Abu Dhabi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Directorate, described the Drive Safely campaign as more than a public awareness effort. He called it a national framework that aims to prevent drug abuse and protect lives. Additionally, the initiative promotes cooperation between authorities and local communities. By combining education with community engagement, the Drive Safely campaign targets the root causes of dangerous behaviour. Ultimately, this strategy strengthens public safety across the UAE.

Special attention goes to vulnerable groups through the Drive Safely campaign. For example, His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Zayed Higher Organization, highlighted tailored efforts for people of determination. These include sign language interpretation and adapted content for the deaf community. Consequently, the campaign helps them better understand traffic laws and drug-related risks. This inclusive approach ensures no group misses vital safety education.

As the Drive Safely campaign continues, officials plan to expand its reach and impact. They aim to keep updating content to reflect emerging challenges in road safety. By integrating the campaign into driver education and targeting diverse groups, the UAE hopes to reduce drug-related accidents. Therefore, the Drive Safely campaign supports a safer, healthier future for all residents on the road.
