Humanitarian Aid to Gaza a Priority for Iraq and Jordan

Humanitarian aid to Gaza remains a shared priority for Iraq and Jordan. President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and King Abdullah II of Jordan jointly urged the global community to guarantee aid access for civilians in Gaza. They stressed the need to protect human life and deliver relief supplies as urgent international duties.

During the Third United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France, both leaders met to discuss regional stability and deepen bilateral cooperation. The meeting included Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, along with several senior officials. Their discussions highlighted the importance of stronger ties between the two nations, especially in trade, economic development, and joint initiatives.

The leaders called for united action to fight climate change, reduce pollution, and protect global water resources. They also reviewed global efforts to meet sustainable development goals and agreed to intensify collaboration in environmental protection.

Regional tensions, particularly in Gaza, took center stage in the meeting. Both President Rashid and King Abdullah strongly reaffirmed their support for Palestinian rights and called for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. They stressed that international silence is unacceptable while civilians suffer.

The Jordanian monarch said his country remains committed to enhancing cooperation with Iraq. He noted the importance of building on the outcomes of the recent Arab Summit in Baghdad. Both sides also discussed ending the worsening conflict in the West Bank through diplomatic efforts.

President Rashid concluded the meeting by congratulating the King on Jordan’s national football team qualifying for the World Cup. The moment added a touch of hope to the otherwise serious tone of the gathering.

In the face of humanitarian crises, humanitarian aid to Gaza cannot be delayed. Iraq and Jordan are speaking with one voice. The need for humanitarian aid to Gaza is urgent, and global action must follow.
