The 14th edition of the Ambassador Festival recently kicked off at the Kufa Mosque in Najaf, Iraq. The event saw extensive participation from both Arab and international guests, with more than 87 intellectual, cultural, and literary contributions. This year’s festival focused on promoting the message of the Ambassador, Muslim ibn Aqil, who brought the message of Imam Hussein to Kufa.

The festival received attention from 15 countries, showcasing works that ranged from thought-provoking essays to artistic expressions. Qass Fattalawi, the media spokesperson for Kufa Mosque, explained that the event’s theme revolves around reinforcing the significance of Muslim ibn Aqil’s journey. It emphasizes the historical moment when he entered Kufa to deliver Imam Hussein’s message.
Fattalawi mentioned that the festival had to narrow down hundreds of submissions, selecting over 87 intellectual and cultural pieces. These pieces were distributed to educational institutions, libraries, and research centers, offering valuable insights to future generations. In addition, the festival featured more than 37 short films, many of which focused on the themes announced by the festival’s documentary and short film competition.

The event also highlighted the art of Arabic calligraphy, with dozens of entries showcasing the rich heritage of this traditional art form. These artistic works helped preserve and celebrate the legacy of Arabic calligraphy, reinforcing its cultural significance. The festival’s organizers, led by the Kufa Mosque Secretariat, ensured the activities resonated deeply with both local and international participants.
Through this festival, the Kufa Mosque Secretariat aimed to honor the history of the 5th of Shawwal. This date marks the arrival of Muslim ibn Aqil in Kufa, as he carried the message of Imam Hussein. The Secretariat also hoped to highlight the importance of Kufa’s historical role in shaping early Islamic events. They aimed to bring the voice of the Ambassador, Muslim ibn Aqil, to the global stage, sharing his legacy with the world.
Additionally, the festival emphasized the Secretariat’s vision for revitalizing the Kufa Mosque and the city itself. They plan to present their architectural vision to the relevant government authorities, focusing on modernizing and enhancing the mosque’s role in the city’s development. Through these efforts, they hope to reshape Kufa’s urban landscape, blending modernity with its rich history.
