The 10th edition of the Mahaseel Festival concluded on Saturday, attracting a strong turnout from the public. The event was held at Katara Cultural Village and drew families, students, and tourists throughout its run.
Organized by Katara in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, the festival aimed to support local agriculture. It also aligned with national goals to enhance food security in Qatar.
This year, 33 local farms and three national companies took part. They showcased a variety of fresh produce, dairy products, honey, and ornamental plants. The event created a vibrant and welcoming environment, celebrating both Qatari culture and sustainable agriculture.
Visitors enjoyed live demonstrations, workshops, and interactive activities. These included educational sessions on farming techniques, food preservation, and healthy diets. Organizers designed these programs to raise public awareness and promote local consumption.
Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, praised the festival’s impact. He noted that the event is more than just a market. It is a strategic initiative that supports farmers and strengthens food independence.
Many farmers and vendors reported increased sales and greater exposure. They also welcomed the opportunity to connect directly with consumers.
The festival encouraged collaboration between the private sector and government bodies. This partnership supports the goals of the National Food Security Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.
As the event came to a close, attendees and organizers expressed optimism about its future. The Mahaseel Festival is expected to return next year with more participants and new initiatives.
