US Envoy Rejects Any Iranian-Installed Iraqi Government

A senior American diplomat issued a stark warning to Iraq, he specifically rejected any Iranian-installed government in Baghdad. The U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barrack made these remarks clearly. He stated the United States will not partner effectively. Washington cannot work with a Tehran-installed Iraqi leadership. Barrack delivered this message on a social media platform. He stressed the urgent need for cooperative governance instead. Therefore, an independent Iraqi leadership remains absolutely essential.

Furthermore, Barrack argued such a government would surely fail, it would not meet Iraqi aspirations for a better future. It would also fail with Syrian aspirations for peace. Moreover, an effective American partnership would become totally impossible. The envoy emphasized this point very strongly and directly. He envisions a government cooperating with all neighbors. This independent Iraqi leadership must also work with the West. Regional stability and prosperity depend on this critical factor.

Additionally, Barrack engaged in diplomatic talks just before this. He held a productive phone call with Masoud Barzani. Barzani leads the Kurdistan Democratic Party in northern Iraq. Their discussion focused mainly on the situation in Syria. They also talked about maintaining a crucial ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire involves Damascus and the YPG/SDF militant group. Ensuring humanitarian aid access was another key topic. Aid must reach affected populations in the Kobani district.

Meanwhile, another high-level discussion occurred just one day earlier. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the Iraqi Prime Minister. They discussed the ongoing government formation process extensively. Both sides reaffirmed a very strong shared commitment. They want Iraq to become a force for stability. Iraq should also promote prosperity and security regionally. Consequently, this independent Iraqi leadership is a mutual goal.

Ultimately, the American position sends a unambiguous message to Baghdad. Iraq’s political choices carry significant international consequences. The path forward requires broad cooperation and inclusive governance. Therefore, the nation must prioritize its own sovereign interests. The United States clearly will not legitimize Iranian influence. This moment represents a critical juncture for Iraqi politics. The world now watches the government formation process closely.
