Union Leadership Stability Strengthens Bapco Workers’ Representation

Union leadership stability continues to define the direction of the Bapco Exploration and Production Workers’ Union. Following the 2025–2029 board elections, the union announced the unanimous selection of all seven board members. This decision reflects the union’s ongoing focus on unity, experience, and effective representation.

The committee supervising the election confirmed that seven candidates submitted nominations before the deadline. Since no other candidates applied, all seven were declared winners without contest. This clear outcome complies fully with the union’s bylaws.

Soon after the results, the newly elected board held its first meeting. They quickly assigned roles to ensure smooth administration. Ali Salmeen returned as president, marking his fourth consecutive term. The board appointed Sheikha Jassim Bushlaibi as vice president and Mohammed Bassam Rabah as secretary. Additionally, Saleh Hussein Al-Bakri took over as financial secretary, supported by assistants Mohammed Abdullah Jawhar and Mohammed Hamad Al-Hashel. Ahmed Yousef Bujiri joined as a general board member.

This renewed leadership team brings long-standing experience and continuity. Their combined efforts reinforce the union’s stability. Furthermore, their deep ties with workers help ensure responsive and committed service to all members.

During the meeting, Salmeen expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. He emphasized that union leadership stability strengthens the union’s mission. He also noted that unity and cooperation with Bapco’s management are essential for success. Maintaining professional relations will lead to more achievements for the workforce.

Salmeen stressed the importance of hard work, transparency, and alignment with Bahrain’s labor laws. He vowed to protect union integrity and promote workers’ rights. Al-Bakri, who has served alongside Salmeen since the union’s start in 2012, echoed this dedication. His calm approach and problem-solving skills have helped the union navigate many challenges.

In conclusion, union leadership stability at Bapco remains vital to representing workers effectively. Strong leadership, consistent values, and member trust all contribute to the union’s continued success.
