UAE Unveils First-Ever Drone Cybersecurity Guidelines in Bold Move to Secure National Airspace

In a major breakthrough for tech security, the UAE Cybersecurity Council (CSC) has launched the country’s first national drone cybersecurity guidelines. This pioneering initiative reflects the UAE’s fast-rising leadership in digital defense and secure transformation.

The announcement came during a strategic collaboration with Reach Digital, a Reach Group subsidiary focused on cybersecurity and transformation, and Shieldworkz, a firm known for its expertise in OT, IoT, and drone protection.

According to Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity in the UAE, these new standards mark a defining moment. “These guidelines strengthen our national UAV ecosystem,” he said. “We aim to ensure drone operations stay secure and aligned with global benchmarks.”

Moreover, Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted rising UAV usage across agriculture, logistics, and environmental sectors. He stressed the urgency of addressing cybersecurity risks before they threaten national infrastructure or data integrity.

Meanwhile, Malik Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, praised the project’s national value. “This shows our deep commitment to the UAE’s cybersecurity roadmap,” he stated. “Working with CSC lets us deliver practical, scalable solutions to protect our drone ecosystem.”

Mohammad Khaled, VP of Growth and Business Transformation at Reach Group, added further insight. “By co-developing these standards with CSC and Shieldworkz, we secure the UAE’s leadership in emerging tech,” he said. “Our focus remains on enabling safe innovation and protecting national infrastructure.”

Unquestionably, the UAE drone cybersecurity guidelines are designed to keep national airspace safe while enabling innovation. With drone activity growing exponentially, the country now takes a proactive stance to secure systems before threats emerge.

Ultimately, this bold step shows how the UAE drone cybersecurity guidelines support resilience, innovation, and global best practice — all while keeping the nation one step ahead in the tech race.
