The UAE has delivered 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Venezuela to support relief efforts after a series of powerful earthquakes left more than 5,000 people dead and caused widespread destruction.
The shipment, coordinated by the UAE Aid Agency and the UAE Embassy in Caracas, includes medical supplies, tents and emergency shelter materials to help meet the immediate needs of communities affected by the June 24 earthquakes.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the assistance is intended to strengthen emergency healthcare services, provide temporary shelter and support the treatment of those injured in the disaster.
The agency said its teams remain on the ground in La Guaira state, one of the hardest-hit areas, carrying out field assessments to identify humanitarian needs and evaluate the extent of the damage.
Officials are also monitoring tent installation sites and medical supply warehouses in Caracas to ensure aid is distributed efficiently and in line with international humanitarian standards.
Venezuela’s Vice Minister of Health, Alexandra Josefina Hernández, thanked the UAE for its rapid response, saying it was the first country to provide medical supplies based on the ministry’s priority requirements.
The latest assistance reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting countries affected by humanitarian crises and natural disasters through emergency relief and international cooperation.
