UAE and Italy Strengthen Strategic Partnership During High-Level Talks

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome to strengthen their strategic partnership. The leaders discussed economic cooperation, investment, technology, and cultural exchange. Their meeting took place at Chigi Palace as part of Sheikh Mohamed’s official visit to Italy.

Meloni welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation, expressing optimism about deepening bilateral cooperation. Both leaders emphasized that their strategic partnership serves as a foundation for mutual growth and development. They highlighted their commitment to expanding ties in key sectors, including advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.

Economic Growth Strengthens Strategic Partnership

Sheikh Mohamed stressed the importance of economic collaboration between the two nations. He revealed that non-oil trade between the UAE and Italy reached $14.1 billion in 2024. This marked a 21.2% increase compared to 2023, reflecting stronger economic ties.

With enhanced cooperation, trade is expected to grow further. The UAE’s announced $40 billion investment in Italy will contribute to development and prosperity. Sheikh Mohamed expressed confidence that this investment will create new opportunities for both countries.

Technology and Sustainability Drive Future Cooperation

The leaders discussed the growing role of sustainability, artificial intelligence, and innovation in their partnership. They acknowledged the shared commitment of both countries to renewable energy and technological advancements.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the importance of cooperation in sustainability initiatives. He affirmed that working together on clean energy projects will benefit both nations. Italy’s expertise in renewable energy aligns with the UAE’s vision for a greener future.

Cultural Exchange Strengthens the Strategic Partnership

Beyond economic and technological cooperation, cultural exchange remains a key pillar of UAE-Italy relations. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the deep-rooted cultural ties between the two nations. Strengthening cultural programs and people-to-people connections will enhance mutual understanding.

Prime Minister Meloni reiterated Italy’s commitment to fostering closer relations with the UAE. She underscored the importance of continued collaboration in areas of shared interest. Both leaders expressed confidence that their partnership will bring long-term benefits.

Senior officials from both sides attended the meeting. UAE representatives included Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with other key officials. Italian ministers and senior leaders also participated in the discussions.
