Tax Compliance in Qatar: GTA Refers 13 Companies For Evasion Worth QR36 Million

The General Tax Authority (GTA) in Qatar has taken a bold step to improve tax compliance in Qatar by referring 13 companies to the Public Prosecution for tax evasion. The total amount involved in these cases is about QR36 million.

The GTA announced that these referrals happened during the first half of 2025. Indeed, this move reflects its ongoing efforts to protect public resources and uphold the rule of law. Teams from the GTA worked closely with other government bodies to conduct thorough investigations. As a result, they discovered that these companies had hidden their real earnings to avoid paying taxes.

Moreover, this action supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. The vision focuses on financial stability and building a diversified economy. By ensuring tax compliance in Qatar, the GTA helps create a fair and transparent financial system. Therefore, this system enables the country to fund major development projects and achieve balanced economic growth.

In a statement, the GTA confirmed that all 13 companies are officially registered in Qatar. Furthermore, legal actions against them follow the Income Tax Law (Law No. 24 of 2018), which strictly prohibits fraudulent activities and tax evasion.

Additionally, the GTA urged all taxpayers to submit honest and accurate tax returns on time. It highlighted that tax evasion harms the national economy and affects development plans. Besides, the authority stressed that it would continue to apply tax laws fairly to everyone, reinforcing tax compliance in Qatar.

At the same time, the GTA explained that improving tax compliance in Qatar is vital for maintaining a strong business environment. By reducing tax evasion, the country can build trust among investors and support sustainable development.

Moreover, the GTA plans to enhance voluntary compliance through public awareness campaigns and regular inspections. As a result, it believes these efforts will increase confidence in the tax system and encourage companies to meet their obligations.

Ultimately, these measures show that the General Tax Authority remains dedicated to building a transparent, fair, and resilient economy. This commitment is essential for Qatar to achieve its long-term economic goals and strengthen its global reputation as a reliable business hub.
