Siegen Claims Opening Day Glory at End Of Season Cup Meeting

Siegen delivered a standout performance on the opening day of the End Of Season Cup meeting. He secured a thrilling half-length victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap 0-90 (Class 3) for three-year-olds at Al Uqda Racecourse.

Ridden by Saleh Faraj Al-Otaibi and trained by Ahmed Al Jehani, Siegen held off a strong late charge from Make Love, guided by Soufiane Saadi. This win gave owner Khalid Hamad M A Al-Hajri a notable victory at the 43rd Al Rayyan Race Meeting.

Earlier in the day, Messaouda, under jockey Alberto Sanna and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, won the Local Thoroughbred Handicap 45-70 (Class 3) by the same margin.

Trainer Hamad Al Jehani enjoyed further success with a quickfire double. Ajlaan took the Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate under Lukas Delozier, and Washeek claimed the Thoroughbred Handicap 60-80 under Szczepan Mazur.

The race card opened with victory for Husam Al Shahania, who won the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate. The horse, trained by Mohammed Hassan Al Matwi and ridden by Salman Fahad Al-Hajri, impressed with a strong finish.

The season-ending event continues with the second and final day. It features five more races, headlined by the Season Finale Trophy, Al Utouriya Cup, and Al Karana Cup.
