Sidra Medicine Celebrates Class of 2025 in a Special Graduation Ceremony

Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, recently honoured the graduating class of 2024-2025. The event took place on June 21 at Le Royal Meridien and was part of its third annual Medical Education Day.

Several key officials attended the ceremony. These included Minister of Public Health H E Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al-Mahmoud, Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Jalham, and Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abdulla Rashid Al-Naimi. Their presence emphasized the event’s importance and prestige.

The graduating Class of 2025 featured 68 individuals. Specifically, there were 19 pediatric residents, 36 fellows in Women’s and Pediatrics, five undergraduates from Medicine, Nursing, and Biological Sciences, plus eight sponsored staff from Genomics, Research, Medical Imaging, and Neuroscience.

Dr. Iyabo Tinubu-Karch, CEO of Sidra Medicine, praised the graduates warmly. She said Medical Education Day celebrates ambition, resilience, and the promise of the future. Moreover, it reflects not only the graduates’ hard work but also the dedication of their mentors and supporters.

Furthermore, she explained that this recognition highlights Sidra Medicine’s ongoing mission. The institution strives to build a healthcare workforce ready to face the region’s main challenges. To achieve this, Sidra focuses on strong education, collaboration, and innovation.

Professor Ibrahim Janahi, Sidra Medicine’s Chief Medical Officer, spoke about the Class of 2025’s role in the region. He said these graduates will help bring important changes to healthcare. Additionally, many health conditions affecting children in the MENA region remain unclear. Therefore, he encouraged graduates to offer fresh perspectives to healthcare and research.

Professor Janahi expressed confidence in their future contributions. He urged them to become pioneers, leaders, and team players in medicine.

Since its start, Sidra Medicine has graduated over 173 students. These include residents and fellows who have strengthened healthcare in Qatar and nearby areas.

Key pediatric programs at Sidra include emergency medicine, medical genetics, pulmonology, neurology and epilepsy, hospital medicine, hematology, and oncology. In addition, research fields cover genomics, precision medicine, biological, and biomedical sciences.
