The Digital Economy File Study Team of the Shura Council met with startup owners on Monday to discuss Oman’s digital economy. The aim of the meeting was to identify key challenges in the sector and explore effective solutions to drive the country’s digital transformation.
During the session, the participants focused on obstacles hindering digital growth. One of the main points of discussion was the creation of a strong legislative framework. This framework is essential for fostering a supportive legal environment for local investors. It also plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of Oman’s market, especially in relation to foreign investments.
In addition to legal concerns, the meeting addressed the significant investment opportunities within Oman’s digital transformation sector. The participants also discussed national programs that aim to support the country’s digital economy. These programs are designed to encourage growth and innovation within the sector.
The attendees emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors. Stronger cooperation is necessary to build a sustainable and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. The discussion also touched on the need to improve access to financing for startups. By facilitating easier access to funding, startups will be able to scale their operations and innovate more effectively.
Entrepreneurs shared their experiences regarding market entry strategies and the challenges associated with expanding into local and regional markets. They discussed the operational hurdles they face and offered insights into how these challenges could be overcome.
The meeting was part of the second session of the working group, which is chaired by Abdullah Al-Waleed Al-Hinai, the Head of the Digital Economy File Study Team at the Shura Council. Several members of the team were also in attendance.
This initiative highlights the growing importance of Oman’s digital economy. The country recognizes the digital economy’s vital role as a driver of economic development.
The digital economy in Oman will continue to grow, but it requires comprehensive support and clear strategies.
