Saudi authorities carried out a massive week-long operation that led to the arrest of 14,987 illegal residents across the Kingdom. The Ministry of Interior announced the operation results on Saturday and emphasized strict enforcement against violators.
Between May 8 and May 14, security forces teamed up with several government agencies for a coordinated inspection campaign. During the raids, officials apprehended 9,212 violators of residency laws, 3,502 border offenders, and 1,873 labor law violators. Clearly, Saudi authorities launched a crackdown on illegal residents that spared no effort.
Additionally, officials caught 1,268 people trying to cross the border illegally into Saudi Arabia. Among them, 62% were Ethiopian nationals, 35% Yemeni, and 3% belonged to other nationalities. Authorities also detained 23 peoplefor aiding illegal residents by offering shelter, transportation, or employment.
In parallel, 11,763 violators were deported after completing legal procedures. Meanwhile, 17,567 violators went to their embassies to obtain travel papers. Moreover, 1,349 individuals confirmed travel reservations to leave the country. Undoubtedly, Saudi authorities launched a crackdown on illegal residents with precise execution and clear coordination.
Currently, officials are processing 23,318 violators, including 22,263 men and 1,055 women, through various legal channels. The Ministry of Interior stressed the serious consequences for those who help violators enter or remain in the Kingdom.
Penalties include up to 15 years in prison, SR1 million in fines, and confiscation of homes or vehicles used in offenses. These strict measures aim to deter illegal entry and residency at every level.
Furthermore, the ministry urged citizens to report violators. In Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, people can call 911. In other regions, they should use 999 or 996 to report violations quickly.
