Cairo hosted the 7th Conference of the Arab Parliament and the Presidents of Arab Councils and Parliaments on Saturday. The event had a strong focus on strengthening Arab parliamentary unity. A key agenda item was dedicated to supporting the Palestinian people. It firmly rejected any proposals for their forced displacement.
Leading the Saudi delegation was Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, speaker of the Shoura Council. The conference, held at the League of Arab States headquarters, aimed to formulate a unified Arab parliamentary stance advocating for Palestinian rights. Discussions centered on creating a comprehensive action plan. This plan would outline concrete steps for Arab parliamentarians to take in support of the Palestinian cause.
Ahead of its final approval, the Presidents of Arab Councils and Parliaments conducted a closed consultative session. The purpose was to finalize the main aspects of this plan. Once completed, the plan will be submitted to the Arab Summit for official adoption.
The Saudi delegation also included Shoura Council Secretary-General Mohammed bin Dakhil Al-Mutairi. It also included council members Saad bin Salib Al-Otaibi, Tariq bin Saeed Al-Shammari, Hanan bint Abdullah Al-Sammari, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Aifan, and Amal bint Abdulaziz Al-Hazani. The conference reinforced the importance of a collective Arab parliamentary effort in addressing regional challenges and advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people.
