Saudi Arabia Drives Global Coral Reef Protection and AI Growth at WEF26

Saudi Arabia made major announcements at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026, highlighting sustainability and technology projects. The Kingdom unveiled plans to host the first Global Coral Reef Summit. The summit will bring together global leaders, scientists, and investors to develop solutions for coral reef protection. Moreover, Saudi Arabia will address policy gaps, advance science-based solutions, and promote sustainable investment. These efforts showcase key Saudi Arabia WEF initiatives.

Officials emphasized the role of tourism in supporting global dialogue and sustainable growth. Tourism creates opportunities for youth and women while connecting people worldwide. Saudi Arabia aims to leverage tourism to promote peace and economic development. These actions are part of broader Saudi Arabia WEF initiatives that combine culture, sustainability, and economic growth.

The Kingdom also reinforced its ambition to become a global leader in artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology highlighted tech growth and diversification under Vision 2030. Non-oil contributions now account for over half of the Kingdom’s GDP, and the talent pool in AI and technology continues to expand. As a result, Saudi Arabia strengthens its digital economy through these Saudi Arabia WEF initiatives.

On the investment side, HUMAIN and the National Infrastructure Fund (Infra) announced a strategic financing framework of up to $1.2 billion. The deal supports AI and digital infrastructure projects, including up to 250 MW of hyperscale AI data center capacity. This demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to expanding technology and digital infrastructure.

The Kingdom also addressed environmental and land restoration challenges. The UNCCD COP16 launched the Business4Land (B4L) Champions’ Council, a coalition of CEOs, sustainability leaders, and policymakers. The council will work to restore land, combat degradation, and strengthen drought resilience. Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia’s participation reflects its commitment to sustainable environmental solutions and global cooperation.

Manufacturing and industrial transformation remain priorities. The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM), in partnership with WEF, announced the Lighthouse Operating System. This framework aims to diversify the economy, build strong non-oil industries, and position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for advanced manufacturing. In addition, MIM signed a cooperation agreement with WEF to strengthen partnerships in critical minerals, supporting sustainable energy and technology sectors.

Overall, Saudi Arabia highlighted sustainability and innovation at WEF26. Through coral reef protection, AI expansion, and industrial development, the Kingdom continues to advance global partnerships. These initiatives strengthen its role in shaping sustainable and technology-driven economic growth worldwide.
